I achieve the greatest sense of joy and pride when I can help a sick patient leave the hospital healthy, knowing that they get to enjoy more time with their owners.
After high school, I followed my love of horses and made a move to Victoria, where I spent three years working in the horse racing industry. I returned to Brisbane to be closer to family, and a short time later I was enrolled and on my way to completing my Veterinary Science at the University of QLD. For me, this was the perfect combination of my love of medical science and animals. One of my favourite parts of the profession is the collegiality amongst each other and always being able to call upon your colleagues and friends for advice. I’m continually finding ways to build on my skills as a mixed animal vet, but I have a keen interest in equine lameness and surgery, as well as cattle medicine and hobby farming.
As cliché as it may sound, I thoroughly enjoy almost every aspect of my role as a veterinarian with Stabler and Howlett, but by far I achieve the greatest sense of joy and pride when I can help a sick patient leave the hospital healthy, knowing that they get to enjoy more time with their owners.
My fiancé and I have two goofy but lovable dogs at home: Toby – a black Labrador who spends most of his day sleeping wherever possible, and Zac – a Whippet Cross who would chase a ball all day it was possible. We also have a gentle giant ex-racehorse Danny, who easily wins the most tolerant horse award after allowing me to practice my equine vet skills whilst studying at university.
We head off on new camping adventures whenever we get a spare weekend, and I have been enjoying getting to know the beautiful Mackay region from behind my camera lens. Next on the shopping list is a stand-up paddleboard, and maybe a boat!
