My favourite part of working at the clinic is the people I get to spend time with.
I joined the Stabler and Howlett Veterinary Surgeons team in 1993. I worked as a Veterinary Nurse at the clinic before moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2000 to work at Nicklin Way Vet Surgery. This clinic was the vet for Australia Zoo, so I was able to see lots of interesting wildlife surgeries.
I then returned to Mackay, and Stabler and Howlett in my current role, which I really enjoy. At home I have our family pet of nine years, Gabby, a Staffordshire Terrier. She’s a regular patient at the clinic, having ruptured both of her cruciate ligaments.
My other passion is horses – I have two mini horses (who are really like big dogs) named Dusty and Blondie. My family has been involved in harness racing (trotters) all my life, and I obtained my licence when I was 16 years old. I raced in Mackay until harness racing finished in 2008 – I really miss it! In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, along with playing netball and horse riding.
